Sunshine Coast assists Shefa Futsal League

One of the few fully functioning futsal leagues in the country,Shefa Futsal League has been literally picked up by the radar of a well organised Australian Futsal Association,the Sunshine Coast Futsal Association.

Secretary of the League,Narelle Skelly while visiting the country last year saw some of the league's opening knockout games and has returned with a set of uniforms for a lucky team, the 21 Jump U16 boys.

21 Jump is a leading club in the league and were privileged to receive the set of uniforms from Mrs Skelly this week.(Pictured above)

Reports reaching Daily Sport say the Australian Futsal Association has also shown interest to work closely with the Shefa Futsal League for possible future exchange programs.

Working with an association like Sunshine Coast will boost the performance of clubs in the Shefa League.

Some fantastic news for Sunshine Coast Futsal today comes out of Germany.  Iona Voyce a member of Sunshine Coast Futsal has been living in germany the past couple of years and whilst there has been helping out the German Football Federation in the development of Futsal.  Iona was asked to coach the Futsal Panthers from KOLN and was the head coach just last week when the won the German Futsal Cup.  Victory gives them the opportunity to compete later in the year in the EUFA Cup which Iona is very excited about.  There are a few photos below and a link to a highlights video on the german federation sight.

QLD TEAMS AT FFA NATIONALS

After some intense debate during 2008 regarding if Football Queensland would send Futsal teams to the FFA nationals, they have come to the party.  Seven teams from QLD competed in the 30th FFA National Futsal Championships.

Nothing major was expected from the teams with only a limited number of regions being available for selection.  "Forgive me please! But did someone upset the apple cart" was a statement from one parent.  Not only did one of the teams make a final but actually came away with a National Title!!  The 13 Boys after running third in the pool gmaes defeated ACT Cobras 6-4 in a thrilling encounter to set up a final againstthat from the pool games seemed all one way traffic!  The boys changed the structure of their defensive game and tightened up on the disciplined Victorian outfit. The counter attack became vital for punishing mistakes and with only 2 minutes remaining Jayden Liddicoat launched himself over the defense to head home the winner.

It was not only a fantastic win for the team but an opportuinty to let others know throughout the country that FQ will be committed to developing quality teams to compete at nationals.
