Sunshine Coast Teams Dominate Craig Foster Challenge
The Sunshine Coast Open Men’s Futsal team have posted one of their best wins of the year when they won the Craig Foster Championship last weekend defeating FNC NSW 5 goals to 3. In a thrilling match, the game went into extra time after the score was locked at 3-3 after 40 minutes of play. The Sunshine Coast had recently lost the recent Summer League Final to FNC NSW but were too strong this time around when they saw victory in their sites with six minutes further play to find a winner. Justin Morrison paid tribute to their State Youth keeper, Brendan Prickett who kept NSW’s punishing attacking shots clear of the goals.
“It was a bruising performance and one where he placed his body on the line on numerous occasions to keep his team in the game” Morrison said. Also leading the way for the Coast team were Jason Miles who put away four stylish goals including the final winning goal. Sam Beaden, the Coast’s attacking left side flyer was also damaging with his penetrating runs paying off with two important goals for his team. In other age groupings, Sunshine Coast teams dominated the champions list, winning the overall championship club trophy.
